How I Started as a Virtual Assistant
You know that feeling that you get when you come home from a long day at work, cook dinner, start a load of laundry, spend what seems like ages trying to figure out your kids math homework, give the kids a bath, put them in bed (at least 5 times because, you know, they suddenly have to pee and read a book and get a glass of water), and then you finally get to sit down and relax but, the problem is, you're too dang tired to relax?
Me too.
That used to be me. I worked 40+ hours per week at a job that I loved, but when I came home and did all of the #momthings I would be so burnt out that I couldn't even relax.
And do you know what's worse? I only got to see my daughter for 2-3 hours before she went to bed.
It killed me.
I kept telling myself that I had to work and that I was doing this for her but, the truth is, what did she actually get out of it? A mom who was gone for 9 hours a day and too tired at night to even play with her.
I was not okay.
When I found out I was pregnant with baby #2, I told my husband that I would not be returning to work after the baby was born.
I didn't care what we had to do to make it happen but I knew deep within my soul that I had to stay home. There was no way that I could be away from both of my girls all day and only see them for a few hours at night and on weekends.
So we made some changes to our lifestyle and got really strict with our budget and I quit my full-time job right before my maternity leave was up.
Things were fine for a while and I was enjoying every minute of being at home with my kiddos. But then we wanted to buy a house and I knew I needed to contribute financially.
I couldn't imagine going back to a 9-5 job though, or joining another MLM, so I started researching work from home jobs and I stumbled across Virtual Assistant.
I felt like I had finally found something that I could do from home and actually be successful. So I started to watch all of the free YouTube videos I could find, read all of the blogs, downloaded all of the free things. I decided to go all-in and it was the best decision.
Now here I am almost a year later, with a steady flow of regular clients, my own VA to help me, and the burning desire to help other mama’s make the transition from 9-5 to freelancer. Because if I can do it, so can you!
