5 Tools Every Social Media Manager Needs

I’ve come across a lot of tools and websites in my two years of business as a social media manager and there are a few that I can’t live without, and some that missed the mark for me.

I’m going to share with you my favorite apps and websites that I use frequently in my business, both for myself and my clients, as a social media manager and strategist.

My Favorite Apps

Canva - I don’t know any social media manager who doesn’t use Canva for graphics and other content creation. I love how easy Canva is to use and the variety of what you can create with it. I use it for everything from graphics to PDFs to email templates.

Airtable - I absolutely LOVE Airtable for my content calendar. You can use it for a variety of different uses, such as project management, forms, and others. I really love it for my content calendar because you can customize your table and add columns for whatever you need - such as captions, hashtags, time to post, graphic attachments, and anything else.

Metricool - I have been using Metricool for the last few months as my social media scheduler and analytics reporting tool all in one and I gotta say – I am in LOVE with it!! The scheduling function is like pretty much any other scheduler out there - it gives you the best times to post, allows you to post to multiple platforms, and you can schedule your Reels and TikTok videos.

Because of Meta’s API rules, you still have to manually publish your carousel posts, stories, and videos (the only scheduler that will auto publish carousels and stories is Facebook’s Business Suite) but you can schedule all of your content and get a push notification when it’s time to publish.

Now here’s what I truly love about Metricool, the analytics reporting is the best I have seen. You can even add your competitors and see how their posts are performing. And – get this – Metricool pulls insights for all of these:

  • Facebook business page

  • Instagram

  • Twitter

  • Pinterest

  • TikTok

  • Google My Business

  • YouTube

  • Twitch

  • Ads reporting for Facebook, Google, and TikTok

You can even create customized reports 🤯. Seriously, go check it out right now.

Trello - I personally like Trello for task management and I also use it for storing my content ideas for video. You’ll see in the video below that I keep a running list of content ideas and on each card I put a link to the audio I want to use, inspiration if I find it, the text I want on the video, and any notes I might come up with for how I want to film the video. I also do this for each of my clients. Then I can move the videos through the filming process on the Trello board.

InShot - This is a phone app that I use when I need to make video edits that require me to clip out parts of a video that are in the middle, speed up parts of a clip, or if I need to do any video overlay’s. It’s a simple app to use and I like it because it’s free.

Dubsado - Dubsado is what I use for scheduling, invoicing clients, preparing and sending contracts and proposals, automating workflows, and my CRM. It has other capabilities too but, honestly, I haven’t taken the time to even dive in to all of its functionalities because these were the main things that I wanted it to do for me. I love that you can customize it and it can send recurring invoices. I also really like that I can set up a workflow that will send my contract and invoice together and then change the project status once the invoice has been paid. It’s so many tools in one!

Flodesk -  I have tried a LOT of email providers and Flodesk has been my favorite so far. I love the beautiful clean templates, it’s very user friendly, and I really like that the price doesn’t increase as your list grows – that’s a huge plus!

Websites Every Social Media Manager Should Know About

FlickTech - FlickTech is my favorite tool for hashtags. It will show you hashtags based on competition (low, medium, and high), it keeps track of hashtags you rank on and how long you are ranked for that hashtag, and you can create lists of different hashtags for your own account and/or your clients so you can keep them all organized.

You get an emailed report every week showing how your hashtags performed and an updated list of recommended hashtags for your account.

Answer The Public - This is a great website to use for content ideas. Simply put in a keyword or two and you’ll get a list of everything people have searched for with those keywords.

*Note - you only get one or two free searches per day per IP address

Title Generator - Similar to answer the public, put in your keyword(s) and get a list of content ideas, titles to use for blogs or emails, or ideas for your ad copy. It’s great! I love using this one to come up with ideas for hooks for my videos.

There you have it. My tried and true tools that I can’t live without. I hope you love these just as much as I do! Be sure to follow me on TikTok and Instagram for more tips.
